How To Apply

Step 1: SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT WITH YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD HOUSING COUNSELOR

If you qualify, schedule an appointment with your neighborhood housing counselor.

Not sure if you qualify? Click here to take a quick survey.

During the appointment, your counselor will explain home improvement alternatives, fill out a PHIL-Plus or Mini-PHIL referral packet and explain the application process. If you would like a head start in the referral process, you can complete the profile worksheet. This worksheet should be given to the counselor at the appointment.

Step 2: YOUR REFERRAL PACKET IS SENT TO THE GREATER PHILADELPHIA URBAN AFFAIRS COALITION (GPUAC).

After your counseling session, the referral packet will be reviewed by GPUAC to ensure accuracy and completion. Once the packet is approved it will be forwarded to the bank of your choice.

Your housing counselor will contact you with the name and number of the bank representative that you will call for an appointment.

Step 3: MAKE A FORMAL APPLICATION WITH ONE OF THE BANKS

Participating banks:

  • Citizens Bank
  • PNC Bank
  • TD Bank
  • United Bank of Philadelphia

If I don’t qualify right now, what can I do?

If your credit scores are lower than the program minimum, you can bring them up by working with a certified credit counselor. Consumer Credit Counseling Service of the Delaware Valley is a great place to begin. For more information call 215-563-5665. Their website address is http://cccsdv.org/counseling/.
